Mrs Sampson (HLTA)

Homework & Spellings

Homework and spellings will be set each week on a Friday on Seesaw and occasionally MyMaths. Your log ins for these is in your green reading diary. Homework will be due in by Thursday the following week and the spelling test will take place the following Friday.

Reading Books

Pupils will be routinely assessed using the accelerated reader assessment tool in school. This will ensure your child is reading a book at an appropriate level of challenge to aid their progress in reading. Pupils should aspire to read for twenty minutes or 20 pages in a reading session and this should happen as often as possible. Parents should still hear their child read regularly in Year 6 as the conversation you have around the book is as important as reading itself. Both Parents and pupils can fill in the green reading diaries so we can monitor how often reading at home is taking place.

School Equipment

As well as our weekly PE lessons, there will be plenty of extra sporting activities taking place throughout thee year. Therefore, please bring in a clean kit each Monday and leave it in school until Friday when you can take it home to be washed over the weekend. Pupils may wish to bring deodorant in but should only bring in roll-on.

All classroom equipment will be provided by school so pupils do not need to bring in a pencil case or their own equipment. Toys, collectables and cards should not be brought in and may be removed.

Pupils can bring in a healthy snack for breaktime. We also encourage them to bring in their own water bottles and take them home each evening to be washed. These bottles must be filled with water.

Prefect & House Captains

Prefects are an essential part of our school and help in the smooth-running of the day. Prefects are selected by the senior leadership teams based on impeccable behaviour, attitude and maturity.

House captains are elected democratically and are responsible for leading teams in our house competitions throughout the year.

Trips

In the Autumn Term, we will spend a lot of time working in an around Ludlow learning about its history and geography.

In the Spring Term, we will head off to London for our residential.

In the Summer Term, there will be a few surprises to help us to celebrate the end of the year.
